Abstract:

Bachground :While the main advantage of the confidence interval is that it enables more precise evaluations when the risk for the outcome of interest is related to the cluster size, the predicted confidence interval width demonstrates the degree of variability in the future data instead. Methods : We present a novel algorithm to create an intra‐cluster robust neighborhood confidence interval and width for each cluster to rank the widths from the narrowest to the widest width to determine each cluster's predicted variability and evaluate the corresponding observed values. An example was developed that assesses the finite‐sample behavior of this new method. Results : Robust neighborhood intra-cluster predicted CI width was obtained   for interpreting results  of  binary unequal sizes data. Narrow confidence intervals CI bounds suggest the results are not subjected to a high degree of random variations. Conclusions: Intra-cluster predicted robust neighborhood CI and its corresponding width is a useful instrument in binary outcome unequal cluster sizes data as a method of analysis.

Abstract:

Objectives: The categorical data analysis is very important in statistics and medical sciences. When the binary response variable is misclassified, the results of fitting the model will be biased in estimating adjusted odds ratios. The present study aimed to use a method to detect and correct misclassification error in the response variable of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), applying binary logistic regression. Methods: Data from the Diabetes Screening test in the Health Center of Zahedan City, Iran, were explored. It included 819 Iranian adults with a binary response variable (T2DM). By a new method, the misclassification parameters and the estimated parameters in logistic regression were validated. Statistical analysis was performed using SAS, and P<0. 05 were considered as statistically significant. Results are presented as Odds Ratio (OR) and 95% Confidence Interval (CI). Results: Increased age (OR=1. 04, 95% CI=1. 02-1. 06), hypertension (OR=3. 06, 95% CI=1. 80-5. 21), and obesity (OR=1. 99, 95% CI=1. 26-3. 15), all elevated the odds of T2DM. Discussion: The method provided adjusting for bias due to misclassification in logistic regression, and using it is recommended.

Background and Objective: A one of the most power on assesses treatment effect is doubled-blind clinical trial. Therefore, deviation of protocol would impede the results in clinical trial. In practice (especially in studies which intervention is drug medication) is non-compliance. Researchers use intention-to-treat analysis for estimation of treatment effects in clinical trials with non-compliance. When there is noncompliance in participants, ITT estimation will have lower precision. In this paper we adjusted noncompliance effect to compare of active treatment and placebo.Materials and Methods: In this paper we used Mehdi-Barzy' study data that was a placebo control, double blind crossover clinical trial and the objective of this study in 42 patients was to assess efficacy of herbal pomade “A” (analgesic effect and improvement function) using locally in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis over 3 weeks. Our model adjusted intention-to-treat estimand under conditional compliance estimation. Results: In the study 42 patients were participate with 30 (71.4%) women. Baseline variables like sex, age, education, weight, height are same in herbal joint and placebo groups. Portions of noncompliance in first and second period were 35.7 and 23.8 percent, respectively, in Mehdi-Barzy' study that based on ITT was adjusted. Standard error and likelihood ratio based on our model were less than standard model. Conclusion: ITT estimand base on our model is better than standard ITT estimand in compare to active treatment and placebo effects.

Abstract:

In this paper the steady state performance of a variable conductance heat pipe, which its working fluid consists of two components (R11+ R113) is modeled. The role of the liquid film momentum and axial normal stresses are considered by use of the mean property of mixture and the governing equations are solved by conventional numerical methods. The results of the present model have been compared with other numerical models and experimental works done by other investigators. The model presented could be used for optimization studies and design of variable conductance thermosyphons.

Abstract:

Background: Common variable immune deficiency (CVID) is the commonest symptomatic primary immunodeficiency and represents a heterogenous collection of disorders resulting mostly in antibody deficiency and recurrent infections. The syndrome includes impaired B-cell maturation, impaired somatic hyper mutation, reduced numbers of circulating memory and isotype-switched memory B cells, and absent or reduced plasma cells. B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) is a tumor necrosis family receptor superfamily member 17 (TNFRSF17), expressed only on B cell lines, and is essential for survival of long-lived plasma cells. The aim of this study was to evaluate mutations in BCMA in patients with CVID in compare with normal individuals in Isfahan, Iran. Methods: Blood samples were collected from 10 CVID patients with substitutive immunoglobulin therapy before immunoglobulins (Ig) infusion and 10 normal controls in ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) tubes then DNA samples were extracted and after the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was done, samples were sequenced.Findings: After reviewing the results of the sequence and alignment of the sequences, no mutations in the gene were seen. Conclusion: In addition to the study of mutation in BCMA gene, BCMA gene and protein expression level should be considered to understand more aspects of this disease.

Abstract:

The Effect of different culture conditions on growth and production of antimicrobial agents by Oudemansiella spp, using the variable Size - Simplex Design, were investigated. The results obtained from the experiments indicated that the optimum condition for growth and production of antimicrobial agents, situated at pH between 5.6 and 6.8, temperature between 28°C and 30.6 ºC, shaking rate between 137 and 170 rpm. The results also showed the fungus grow and produced antimicrobial agents at a very wide range of glucose concentration. Increasing the concentration of glucose over 15 g/L, resulted in decreasing the activity of the fungus.

Abstract:

This article shows that any type of binary data can be defined as a collection from codewords of variable length. This feature helps us to define an Injective and surjective function from the suggested codewords to the required codewords. Therefore, by replacing the new codewords, the binary data becomes another binary data regarding the intended goals. One of these goals is to reduce data size. It means that instead of the original codewords of each binary data, it replaced the Huffman codewords to reduce the data size. One of the features of this method is the result of positive compression for any type of binary data, that is, regardless of the size of the code table, the difference between the original data size and the data size after compression will be greater than or equal to zero. Another important and practical feature of this method is the use of symmetric codewords instead of the suggested codewords in order to create symmetry, reversibility and error resistance properties with two-way decoding.

Abstract:

In this article, first we define a Kripke semantics for normal modal Logic with a binary operator and we introduce a system K^2 which is sound and complete for this semantics. Then, we will introduce two translations and show that binary normal modal logic K^2, and unary normal modal logic K, i.e. modal logic with one binary operator, are very closely related by these two translations. We call a translation a faithful interpretation if provability is preserved in both directions. So, with this terminology we will show that these two translations are faithful interpretation of K into K^2 and vice versa. A logic extending K will be a set of formulas containing K closed under its rules and uniform substitution. A logic extending K^2 is similarly defined. Finally, we will prove that the classes of logics extending K and K^2 are closely related as well and there is a 1-1-correspondence between the logics extending K and extending K^2.
